SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Vice-President, Operations, and as a member of the company’s Executive Committee, the Director of Scientific Equipment will be responsible for the equipment and maintenance department, the development of processes related to these services, the supervision of the group’s activities and the management of personnel in this sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment and Maintenance Department:
- Manage a high-performance team to install, qualify and maintain the equipment fleet of a state-of-the-art development center.
- Work closely with our partners to optimize the maintenance structure.
- Support and coach your group in the development and execution of equipment maintenance processes.
- Maintain, develop and optimize preventive maintenance processes to make them a company culture.
- Maintain, develop and optimize the use of maintenance management software.
- Responsible for the installation of new equipment and the planning of its maintenance – Master all center operations in order to support the technical teams when purchasing new equipment or replacing existing equipment.
- Work as a team with internal technical departments and our partners to optimize equipment use and reduce downtime.
- Ensure overall management of team activities to define priorities and resource assignment.
Personnel management :
- Day-to-day management of the team and workload.
- Ensure compliance with HR processes (hiring, monitoring, development plans, annual appraisals, etc.).
- Define future skills requirements for the team in line with the company’s and sector’s strategic plan, and draw up a plan to acquire them.
- Set challenging objectives for the team to achieve excellence.
Take on any other tasks assigned by his/her supervisor in his/her area of expertise.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- College diploma in a field related to equipment support with a minimum of 10 years corporate experience and experience in personnel management.
- Mastery of preventive maintenance processes.
- Experience in leading an equipment maintenance team.
- Experience in the use and administration of maintenance tracking software.
- Technical project management.
- Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player.
- Resourcefulness, initiative and autonomy.
- Experience in microelectronics and microfabrication (asset).
