SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

We are looking for a person to act as a scientific equipment technician, supporting us in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of the Center’s equipment.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Maintain the scientific equipment under his/her responsibility;
- Undertake repair, preventive maintenance and equipment configuration actions to ensure continuity and fluidity of C2MI equipment operations;
- In the event of equipment downtime, be in charge of resetting it to operating condition by diagnosing and repairing the problem, whether electrical, electronic, pneumatic or mechanical;
- Execute preventive and planned maintenance tasks on schedule, with the aim of maintaining the reliability of the equipment under its responsibility.
- During maintenance, you will document and retain any calibration data deemed critical to process control and equipment stability.
- Establish inventories of spare parts required to perform tasks and manage maintenance programs associated with equipment;
- Modify existing equipment to improve operation and/or equipment options. Responsible for keeping documentation up to date;
- He or she also monitors the performance indicators of the equipment for which he or she is responsible and drives continuous improvement by optimizing spare parts inventories and modifying current work procedures and maintenance programs;
- Ability to travel outside Canada for training or installation of new equipment directly with suppliers.
SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS SOUGHT
- DEC in Electrical Engineering- automation and control, industrial maintenance or instrumentation, AEC automation and robotics or any other discipline deemed relevant;
- Experience in maintenance (asset);
- Experience in a scientific, technological or engineering environment;
- Strong observational skills, logical thinking and discernment;
- Be flexible when it comes to working atypical hours or overtime;
- Ability to work flexible schedules and occasional overtime ;
- Ability to solve technical problems ;
- Ability to work in English and communicate with equipment suppliers;
- Priority management skills.
- Available to travel outside Canada, if required.
- Skills in technical drawing software considered an asset;
