On March 15, 2019, Quebec Premier François Legault announced that the Quebec government was awarding $26.75 million in financial assistance to the MiQro Innovation Collaboration Center (C2MI) to support the completion of investment and innovation projects valued at $160.5 million.
The C2MI initiative, selected through the Mobilizing Strategic Projects call, which was issued in May 2018, is aimed at creating a home for innovation in the electronic systems industry. The innovation home will build strong linkages between the electronic systems industry and those in other industries such as transportation, healthcare, energy, and digital technologies. These partnerships will strengthen the innovation and commercialization capacity of the most promising companies and accelerate their growth into global leaders.
The innovative projects resulting from these partnerships could generate more than 700 paying jobs in Quebec over the next five years. This project is in line with the Québec government's economic vision, which aims to create more wealth so that Québec can catch up with the rest of Canada.
